movement as expression

Movement is the answer to a song.  Movement of the gross motor skills strengthens the body and creates balance. Through movement, children can express their emotions and feelings.  Another way to exercise by movement is using musical instruments including the guitar, piano, and violin; these help us exercise the fine motor skills.  The children explore, enjoy and embody themselves in the movement, generating new rhythms, and gaining positive self-esteem.  Through the Movement, the kids can explore and participate in dance and culture.

Music, Movement and Kids

 Social / Emotional Development

~ Children learn to share their experiences expressing their emotions; for example: anger, joy, sadness, and happiness; using sounds to express emotions through their bodies.  It promotes children’s integration as part of a group, to share in singing, taking responsibilities, following the rules, and taking self-direction.

 Physical development

~ Helps exploration, discovery and development of locomotor skills and fine motor skills, eye-hand coordination.  Learning to swing and coordinate, they use their imagination to move their bodies according to a specific sound.
